Your Responsibilities

As a special education teacher, you have an overall view of the preschool area regarding pedagogical mapping of individual children and groups of children in need of special support. You establish and follow up on action plans at both group and individual levels, as well as guide and support teams in working methods and approaches. You also support the development of the operations and create learning environments that promote development and learning for all children. You collaborate with other agencies such as habilitation, child health centers, and other groups within the school.

The special education teacher acts at the individual, group, and organizational levels, depending on needs and local adaptations. The special education teacher becomes a conversation partner and advisor for children, colleagues, the principal, guardians, and other stakeholders in both support and pedagogical matters. The role also includes participating in the area's professional development and keeping up with current theory and research, disseminating it to the preschools.

We actively work to always be as close to the children as possible in their exploration and questions. We build on the children's strengths, as all children have unique competencies and contributions to the group. We divide into smaller groups during the day, which allows each child to have an easier time expressing themselves, gaining more space and peace in play and their own exploration.

We work inspired by Reggio Emilia and aim to offer a democratic space where children can grow and explore together. The environments in the preschool are carefully constructed to create an appealing atmosphere filled with exploration and trust in children's abilities. We work project-based, which means we focus on children's thoughts and questions, capturing and connecting the different parts of learning, such as language, play, mathematics, science, and much more.

The preschool area also includes OKNH, which is a unit located at Mårdtorpsgatan 63 in Ryd. We provide other pedagogical care and receive children who need supervision in the evenings, nights, and weekends. The operation is open every evening, night, and weekend throughout the year for children aged 1-12 years.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who has a teaching or preschool teacher license and has completed training to become a special education teacher. You have previous work experience from preschool operations and are well acquainted with the preschool curriculum.

You have good communication skills in spoken and written Swedish. This is necessary for you to organize and carry out work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development according to the curriculum.

You create participation and have good collaboration skills. You listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts effectively. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and can adapt your way of conveying messages to others. You communicate clearly. You are confident in yourself, see relationships in their proper perspective, and act based on your professional stance and conviction. Furthermore, you take responsibility for planning and organizing activities effectively. You consider the larger perspective and ensure the best for the entire operation.
